H&A Outfitters, Inc. just finished up with our 2012 New Mexico archery elk hunts and I must say the horn growth on bulls this year is incredible!
We ran a 90% shooting opportunity on good bulls and some of our clients had several opportunities daily but couldn’t seem to make it happen for themselves or for us.
The good news is this year we only had one wound and the bull is most definitely going to live. Guess what kind of tip was used on that bull? You’re right! It was an expandable. Guys, expandables suck! I’ve been in the game a long time, believe me when I say they suck and are not meant for elk hunting. Ask any outfitter what they think about expandables and 99% of them will tell you that they suck! We can’t all be wrong.
I’m already looking forward to next year’s archery season in New Mexico. Please take time and look at the 2012 photos I have posted. Hunt hard, shoot straight!
Til next time,
Andy
