H&A Outfitters, Inc. offers New Mexico public land professionally guided hunts for Bighorn Sheep, elk and deer throughout the Carson National Forest and in the Valle Vidal of the Carson National Forest in Game Management Unit 55. We offer fully guided elk hunts for archery, muzzleloader and rifle. These hunts are conducted on foot and horseback. There is very little road travel in the Valle Vidal. Horses are a necessity to make your hunt a success.
The Carson National Forest elevations range from 6,000 feet to 13,161 feet at Wheeler Peak, the highest peak in New Mexico. Wheeler is home to some of the largest rocky mountain bighorn sheep on the planet. The recent state record is 198 4/8" taken out of the Wheeler Peak area in 2005. The Carson National Forest of New Mexico is also home to the Valle Vidal one of North America's top elk hunting destinations today. Valle Vidal hosts a herd of about 2,500 elk within its boundaries. This is a once in a lifetime hunting opportunity. TheValle Vidal(Spanish, "Valley of Life") is a 101,794 acres mountain basin in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains within the Carson National Forest.
H&A Outfitters, Inc. has several other elk hunting opportunities throughout the Carson.
